Part 2
Some of the animals
they saw,
were hares
and sand foxes.
Scorpions, spiders,
cobras and lizards
live in the
Sahara Desert, too.
The cactus plants
or cacti
in the desert
have very thick leaves
and stems.
It doesn’t rain
very often,
and the plants
have to store
some water in
their leaves.
They stayed
in the Sahara Desert
for a week.
Then they flew
to the Arizona Desert
in America.
There they saw
some rattlesnakes,
ground squirrels,
pigmy owls,
coyotes,
and cactus wrens.
It was also
very hot and dry
in this desert,
so they went home.
Back home
they told their friends
and families
about
the different deserts
they have seen.
Their teacher
told them
that their next trip
would be to an ocean
in Australia.
Everybody
was very excited.
