Sentences with “While



Grammar Point: Conjunctions.



Combine Sentences with “While



Use “while
followed by the Past Continuous Tense
( was / were  + Verb-ing )
to combine two sentences where:


i.  two actions happened
    at the same time in the past


ii.  both actions took a long time




Examples:



1. 
Tom was taking many photographs.
Andy was writing an article. [While]
a.
While Tom was taking many photographs,
Andy was writing an article.
b.
Tom was taking many photographs
while Andy was writing an article.



2.
The anteater looked (look)for ants.
The jaguar walked 
(walk) between the trees. [While]

a. 
While the anteater was looking for ants,
