A Road Accident
Yesterday morning
Sally went downstairs
and got into her car.
She fastened her seat belt
and started the car.
Then she drove south
on Park Street
to the intersection
of Park Street and Lily Road.
The traffic light
on Park Street was red,
so Sally stopped and waited
for the light to change.
Hank, a university student,
put on his helmet
before he got on
his scooter.
Being late for class,
he drove fast
down Lily Road.
When Hank got to
the intersection
of Park Street
and Lily Road,
the traffic light
on Lily Road was red.
He was going too fast to stop
and he crashed
his scooter into the side
of Sally’s car.
A witness,
who was near Sally’s car
at the time of the collision,
called the police
and the ambulance service.
After just a few minutes,
two police officers
and an ambulance
arrived on the scene
of the accident.
Both Sally and Hank
were shaking because
they suffered from shock.
Sally’s arm hurt a little
and Hank had injured
his left leg and his arms.
They were taken
to the hospital
by ambulance.
A tow truck
towed Sally’s car
to the repair shop.
Fortunately,
both drivers have driver’s licenses,
so an insurance company
will pay for everything.
However, Hank not only
has to buy a new scooter
but he may also
have to pay
a fine because
he did not stop
at a red traffic light.
He decided
to be more careful
in the future.
