At the Hospital

                   

The ambulance stopped

in front of

the emergency entrance

at City Hospital

and the ambulance crew

took Sally and Hank inside.

 

They had to give

their personal information

to a clerk

at the admission desk

before they could go

into the emergency room

to be examined

by the doctor.

 
Dr. Lucy Li was on duty.

After thoroughly examining

both patients,

she sent Hank for X-rays

to see if he had

any fractured bones. 

 
The X-rays showed

that Hank’s left leg

was broken,

so the doctor put it

in a cast.

Hank will have to use

a pair of crutches for walking.

 

Sally had a big,

purple bruise

on her arm

but no serious injuries.

 

The doctor gave

Hank and Sally each

a prescription

for some medicine.

 
Before collecting

their medicine

from the pharmacy,

both patients

went to the cashier

to pay for

their treatment.

 

Then they left the hospital

with their families.
